MICHELE MONROY VALLE
Michele Monroy-Valle is a Guatemalan epidemiologist who is a researcher in nutrition epidemiology at Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala. She has been a professor for research in nutrition and food security at the degree and masters in nutrition for three universities in Guatemala. She was awarded the Canadian Queen Elizabeth II Scholarship to study the Ph.D. in epidemiology at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada. Her Doctorate research project is related to bone health in the Mother-Children binomial and its relationship with stunting and social determinants of health. Monroy-Valle has conducted research and trained local professionals in the detection, management and prevention of Severe Acute Malnutrition. She also has worked in developing knowledge about the Central American food systems related to the basic food basket, household food consumption and fast food among others. She holds various awards for teaching and research merits.
