My research interest has been related to the description of placental vascular regulation mechanisms, both in physiological conditions and in pregnancy diseases such as gestational diabetes and preeclampsia, mainly.

Recently, my work has focused on the study of potassium channels regulation and its interaction with nitric oxide signalling in human placenta, to further, determine the potential alterations of these mechanisms in gestational diabetes and gestational diabesity.

To date, I have published 32 articles in WOS journals, 15 of them published in the last 5 years (2015-2019). In addition, I have published 4 book chapters with international publishers.

At this moment, I am Head of the Laboratorio de Investigación Materno-Fetal (LIMaF) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicina, Universidad de Concepción.
