Adalberto Val estuda adaptações biológicas de peixes da Amazônia, orientou mais de 100 alunos, é autor de mais de 200 artigos. Entre seus livros está Fishes of the Amazon, Springer. Atuou como Diretor Geral do INPA (2006-2014) e coordena o Projeto ADAPTA desde 2009. É membro titular da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, e foi agraciado com a Gran Cruz da Ordem Nacional do Mérito Científico (Brasil), o Prêmio de Excelência da American Fisheries Society-Physiology Section (EUA).

Adalberto Val studies biological adaptations of fish of the Amazon, advised 100+ students, authored 200+ articles. Among his books is Fishes of the Amazon, Springer. He acted as a General Director of INPA (2006-2014) and is coordinating the ADAPTA Project since 2009. He is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, and awardee of Gran Cross of the National Order of Scientific Merit (Brazil) and Award of Excellence of the American Fisheries Society-Physiology Section (USA).
