Russ Chess-Williams is Professor of Pharmacology and Director of the Centre for Urology Research at the Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine, Bond University on the Gold Coast, Australia. He has previously held positions as Associate Dean of Research for the Faculty (2011-12) and Head of the Biomedical Science department (2006-11).  His main research interests are the physiology and pharmacology of the lower urinary tract and he was involved in the early pre-clinical studies with tamsulosin, solifenacin and mirabegron.  His recent studies have focused on the role of the urothelium in regulating lower urinary tract function and bladder sensory mechanisms in health and disease. He has published >150 original articles that have received >8000 citations.  His published works include original papers in European Urology and Nature and his papers have been referenced in 26 patents.  Recently his interests have been animals models of psychological stress and the influence of stress on bladder function.
