BERNARDO JAVIER KRAUSE LEYTON

CHILE

Dr Krause has a bacharel degree in Biochemist by Universidad de Chile and PhD in Biological Sciences by Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. He has been working as Assistant Professor, on Instituto de Ciencias de la Salud at Universidad de O’Higgins, Rancagua, Chile. The effect of altered fetal growth and development trajectories in humans under diverse life-course conditions has been the main focus of the Dr. Bernardo Krause’s research line. He is involved, as principal and co-investigator, in studies addressed to provide evidence regarding mechanisms acting in the vascular and immune dysfunction resulting from an impaired fetal and postnatal development, as well as the deleterious effect of hypoxia and maternal malnutrition on the vascular health. This research line has initially interested in the cellular mechanisms participating in the endothelial dysfunction, but nowadays is open to integrate these processes with physiological, biomechanical and epigenetic responses that take place at systemic level, using more complementary and comprehensive experimental models. In this context, a growing interest in the discovery epigenetic markers for early disease diagnosis and patient management is his current focus.
