The focus of Dr. Martins-Pinge´s laboratory is the study of neural control of circulation in animal models of obesity, orthostatic stress, and parkinsonism; role of nitric oxide in central and peripheral cardiovascular function; and effects of physical training on neural plasticity and under pathophysiological conditions. Major methodological approaches include injection of substances in the central nervous system (RVLM and PVN), recording of cardiovascular parameters in an invasive and non-invasive way,autonomic evaluation by spectral analysis, dosage of cytokines and nitric oxide (nitrite). Dr. Martins-Pinge has a PhD in Physiology at the Federal University of São Paulo, and a post-doc at the University of Columbia-Missouri - USA (2003-2004).
