Carpes is a professor at the Center for Health Sciences of the Federal University of Pampa, in Brazil. He is the current president of the Brazilian Society of Biomechanics and a member of the Executive Council of the International Society of Biomechanics. His research focuses on developing a basic understanding of the production and regulation of movements with studies in humans and other animal models and applying this information to training and rehabilitation. Carpes also dedicates to help different groups across the world to establish laboratory and research groups in the field of biomechanics and the organization of new biomechanics societies in EDC.
