Short c-vitae: Luigi Mondello is Full Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Health Products Department of the University of Messina, Italy. He received a degree in Chemistry from the University of Messina in 1991. Prof. Mondello teaches the course of Analytical Chemistry at the Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Health Products Department of the University of Messina and at the University Campus Bio-Medico in Rome, Italy. He is Deputy for Research (Science and Technology Area) at the University of Messina and member of the Teaching Board of the Doctorate Course on “Pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical Food Chemistry and Technology”. Research in your lab is mainly focused on the use of multidimensional and MS-hyphenated chromatography, prototype instrumentation and dedicated software.

One of the most recent advances is the construction of a nano-LC system coupled to EI-MS detection, extending the advantages of GC-MS to typical LC-amenable compounds. It combines the benefits of miniaturized analytical instruments with the unique features of EI-MS spectra for molecule fingerprinting. In 2017 he was among of the top 10 most influential people in the analytical sciences (separation scientist) in “The Analytical Scientist Power List”.
