C-vitae: Dr. Renato Zanella received his doctorate in Analytical Chemistry from Dortmund Universität, Germany, in 1994, with a postdoctoral degree from the Free University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands). He is currently Professor of Analytical Chemistry at UFSM. Coordinator of the Laboratory of Analysis of Pesticide Residues (LARP) of UFSM. His main research area are sample preparation and chromatography, specially using the QuEChERS method in the analysis of pesticides, veterinary drugs, pharmaceuticals, water, soil, fruits, cereals, milk, meat. Currently he is Research 1C from CNPq. Author of more than 140 papers and 11 book chapters. Supervisor of 39 dissertations and 24 doctoral thesis.

President of Red de Análises de La Calidad Ambiental en América Latina (RACAL) and member of the Executive Extended Committee of the International Association of Environmental Analytical Chemistry (IAEAC) since 2013.
